In my lifetime, the precarity, or desperateness, of people’s lives,
has grown, enormously, continuously, and alarmingly!
While the educated, information society, is ever more rewarded,
efficient, and luxurious, the vast majority are left out.
As of the late 1980′s, more than half of all people ever alive are living now.
That the vast majority of us are living on the edge of desperation,
or in deep desperation, as of mid first decade of the third millennium,
means we are faced with a world, where advancing technology has enabled anyone to live like royalty,
while enforcing a society where the majority, of all humans ever having lived,
are currently either starving to death, in grave danger of doing so, or worse.
Yet this technologia could engender an economy that could support most of us
in a style, that, still, very few have ever experienced.
We collectively have graver and graver impacts on our environments’
capacity to sustain us.
as a result of our individual desperate behaviors, we endanger all,
especially those who are not economically, and/or informationally, well endowed.
We must endeavor to reduce the general level of desperation among the masses,
else, even the rich will not be sustained.
The economic and information resources must not only no longer be
used against the interests of individuals, be put at the uses of the masses.
All individuals must learn to act less desperate,to spare what they can spare,
without suffering for loss, like info, pleasant labor, attention, and love.
None should not be well enough off to spare these things, for indeed,
not sharing these things is itself loss, one we all share,
not just the individuals denied.
All should be given their share of what our forbearers have handed down to us all.
the artistry, and knowledge of our predecessors should be available to all to mix,
and remix, and re-envision.
This is the only way back to an expanding economy,
over the hump of earths population limits and our increasing disparity.
Corporations are just the most powerful of such individual actors, not the best organized;
governments and other organizations are routinely,
like corporations, programmed to act desperately,
and to produce more desperation among others in so doing.
Wither goes our party on this path? How desperate are we?
Better, more human, communication, information, education,
and knowledge management,
allow us to fully share the most powerful resources
we have ever had, information, and the knowledge to use it with wisdom.
Humanity, and many other species, are badly losing the class war,
to the point of threatened, virtual, or real, extinction!
to our cultural toolage?
Our technology has been used to create an Earth,
where the majority of humans, who ever lived,
can only wish they had the freedoms and luxuries
of the tribal hunter gatherer life.
From most, the land, resources on and in it, tribal political power,
the heritage of passed down human imagination and experience,
even the control, use, and benefit, of their own labor and information,
have all essentially been removed.
For most, a hunter/gatherer life seems palatial for it is,
compared to squatting in a land”fill”;
more control, sustainability, nutrition, resource redundancy, other securities,
more luxuries, time, and space, and freedom.
The limitations of neighboring tribes seem like a small cost, the dangers,
even of tribal war, are a small price when compared to modern war’s costs,
or to working in a sweat shop to poison yourself and your land,
to work yourself to the bone to create a useless luxury product,
for wages that could never cover the cost of the useful thing,
the luxury good is a bad imitation of.
To poison the air? or to be?
a more desperate choice, even, than kill or be killed,
more stressful, less rewarding if successful, more lethal if not.
makes tribal warfare look like fun!
Tell someone feeling that desperate to preserve our environment,
there is only one answer, it is simple a question.
how do I survive?
This question more of us should be ready for a good answer to.
Even among those who fare better, many are so stressed out,
they spend many resources and much time, trying to get hurt with panache,
in desperate sporting extremes.
The threat of our own extinction becomes the most likely prospect
of our superior ability to adapt to, and master, threats?
i don’t think so…
What kind of human nature, or rationale, is that?
none at all!
Once the people seize the festival/party leadership,
first the lobbyists, then the politicians,
then the lawyers, cops, and soldiers,
may all be replaced,
then we will automate management and ownership out of their jobs
(they’ll beat us to it, you know they will;
then it’s just a legal change of ownership away).
At which point it will be time to sit the engineers down,
and retrain them to engineer for user usability and user desires.
Then sit the users down, retrain them for co-design of their own lives,
and resource management, the fun, easy,
joomla way.
The dTao be much more earnestly sought,
and the way to being fully human well shown,
in a world of animal, eventually vegetale, peoples.
Gia’s new brain will wake up,
within years heaven on earth, lamb lies down with lion.
the new religion, respect your place, and all others, in the Allness.
the new technologies will enable same.
to get there, we will automate management,
ownership, even visionaries, out of work.
no longer a job, the shared joy of striving to better our collective individual lives.
to preserve and embody the Earth’s behavioral and genetic information,
creating the beauty of her lifeways, expanding and diversifying them, protecting life,
the duty and pleasure of all.
but more than before, faster, more beautifully, more safely.
not ever less so.
every life will be secure, soon after, eternal.
the record will preserve you,
you will be completely, and the record will record it completely,
the record will be you, you will be the record,
the record will be backed up, copied, distributed.
immortal
virtual immortality for some imaginary social construct machinery
will transform into real immortality for all Her creatures.
we all know the technical side of immortality is almost worked out.
even now, we have much farther than that to go to build a less vicious,
paranoid, precarious, and desperate world.
A world that can learn to share,
as our technology now demands,
of us all.
You cannot stop it, you may only assist,
something we can all agree on:
automate management and ownership out of a job!

If you’re hankering to see a mess of progressives, and recently former Dems, who are seriously looking at alternatives to voting for Obama, check out the comments on any one of many articles posted Sept. 2-3 at CommonDreams.org.
These first two are defiantly rife with mentions of, and opportunities to mention, the Green Party; I commented profusely on the first one:

This ancient “atheist” materialist philosophy
from India is known only by it’s detractors,
as “Gnostic” schools were until recently.
Like the Nag Hammadi, these words are more
aligned with my view of the Allness
then the streams that have mainly
come down to us.
As i’ve said before, my school is one of
a very hard core purely literal Materialism.
The spirit and the thing are not at all identical,
they are simply one.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cārvāka
That the pleasure arising to man from contact
with sensible objects, is to be relinquished
because accompanied by pain?
Such is the reasoning of fools.
The kernels of the paddy,
rich with finest white grains,
what man, seeking his own true interest,
would fling them away,
because of a covering of husk and dust?
The Agnihotra, the three Vedas,
the ascetic’s three staves,
and smearing oneself with ashes —
Brihaspati says,
these are but means of livelihood for
those who have no manliness nor sense.
In this school there are four elements,
earth, water, fire and air; and from these
four elements alone is intelligence produced —
just like the intoxicating power from kinwa &c,
mixed together; since in “I am fat”, “I am lean”,
these attributes abide in the same subject,
and since fatness, &c, reside only in the body,
it alone is the soul and no other,
and such phrases as “my body”
are only significant metaphorically.
If a beast slain in the Jyothishtoma rite
will itself go to heaven, why then does not
the sacrificer forthwith offer his own father?
If the Sraddha produces gratification to beings
who are dead, then why not give food down below
to those who are standing on the house-top?
If he who departs from the body
goes to another world,
how is it that he come not back again,
restless for love of his kindred?
Hence it is only as a means of livelihood that
Brahmans have established here all these ceremonies
for the dead, — there is no other fruit anywhere.
The three authors of the Vedas were buffoons,
knaves, and demons.
All the well-known formulae of the pandits,
jarphari, turphari, etc. and all the obscene rites
for the queen commanded in Aswamedha,
these were invented by buffoons,
and so all the various kinds of presents to
the priests, while the eating of flesh was
similarly commanded by night-prowling demons.
Fire is hot, water cold,
refreshingly cool is the breeze of morning;
By whom came this variety?
They were born of their own nature.
Springing forth from these elements itself
solid knowledge is destroyed when they are destroyed—
after death no intelligence remains.
While life remains, let a man live happily,
let him feed on butter though he runs in debt;
When once the body becomes ashes,
how can it ever return again?
A chance combination two Facebook posts and a late night email:
Scott McLendon commented on Cindy Sheehan’s status:
“”What is to give light must endure burning.”
“The experiences of camp life show that a man does have a choice of action. There were enough examples, often of a heroic nature, which proved that apathy could be overcome, irritability suppressed. Man can preserve a vestige of spiritual freedom, of independence of mind, even in such terrible conditions of psychic and physical stress. We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken away from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s way. The way in which a man accepts his fate and all the suffering it entails, the way in which he takes up his cross, gives him ample opportunity—even in the most difficult circumstances—to add a deeper meaning to life.”
“Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rather must recognize that it is he who is asked. In a word, each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible.”
“Just as a small fire is extinguished by the storm whereas a large fire is enhanced by it-likewise a weak faith is weakened by predicament and catastrophes whereas a strong faith is strengthened by them. ”
“For the meaning of life differs from man to man, from day to day and from hour to hour. What matters, therefore, is not the meaning of life in general but rather the specific meaning of a person’s life at a given moment. ”
“Our generation is realistic for we have come to know man as he really is.
“After all, man is that being who has invented the gas chambers of Auschwitz; however, he is also that being who has entered those gas chambers upright, with the Lord’s Prayer or Shema Yisrael on his lips. ”
“Only to the extent that someone is living out this self transcendence of human existence, is he truly human or does he become his true self. He becomes so, not by concerning himself with his self’s actualization, but by forgetting himself and giving himself, overlooking himself and focusing outward.”
” “So, let us be alert-alert in a twofold sense:
Since Auschwitz we know what man is capable of.
And since Hiroshima we know what is at stake.”
–Viktor Frankl
——————–Freedom for what ?
Bodhi Sarango sent a message to the members of Celebrating The New Man – Zorba the Buddha.
- OSHO, BEING YOUR SANNYASIN HAS GIVEN ME THE SENSE OF FREEDOM OF NOT BELONGING TO ANY PARTICULAR PLACE, COUNTRY OR EVEN NATIONALITY. IT’S REALLY GREAT. I’VE FELT ABLE TO MOVE ABOUT WITHOUT MUCH FEAR AND TO BE COMMITTED WITHOUT FEELING IMPRISONED. WHY THEN, AFTER NINE YEARS, DO I FEEL A BITTER SADNESS MIXED WITH THIS SENSE OF FREEDOM?
- Freedom has two sides and if you have only one side of it, a single side, you will feel freedom mixed with sadness. So you have to understand the whole psychology of freedom.
The first side is freedom from: from nationality, from a certain church, from a certain race, from a certain political ideology. This is the first part of freedom, the foundation of freedom. It is always from something. Once you have attained this freedom, you will feel very light and very good and very happy. And for the first time you will start rejoicing in your own individuality, because your individuality was covered with all those things that you have become free of.
But this is only one half and then there will come sadness, because the other half is missing. Freedom from is fulfilled, but freedom for what? Freedom in itself has no meaning, unless it is freedom for something, something creative — freedom to sculpt, freedom to dance, freedom to create music, poetry, painting. Unless your freedom turns into a creative realization, you will feel sad. Because you will see that you are free: your chains are broken, you no longer have any handcuffs, you no longer have any chains, you don’t have any prison, you are standing under the starry night, completely free, but where to go?
Then comes a sudden sadness. What path to choose? Up to now there was no question of going anywhere — you were imprisoned. Your whole consciousness was concentrated on how to get free, your only anxiety was how to get free. Now that you are free, a new kind of problem has to be encountered. What to do now that you are free?
Just freedom in itself does not mean anything, unless you choose a creative path. Either you go deeper into meditation for self-realization — that’s what I was talking about: unless you become like Premda, pregnant — or if you have a certain kind of talent that has not been allowed to develop because of your fetters — you could not compose music because your hands were in chains, you could not dance because your feet were in chains … If you have a talent to be a dancer, then be a dancer. Then your freedom is complete, then the circle is complete.
Freedom from and freedom for — this is not something new that you are facing. It is being faced by every person who struggles first for freedom and then suddenly finds, “Now that I am free, what am I going to do?” Up to now, he was so occupied, so engaged, so very busy. Even in his dreams he was thinking only of freedom. And he has never thought about what he is going to do when he will get freedom.
Prem Islamo, what has happened is beautiful. But something more is needed. You have to become a creator. You have to find some creativity that fulfills your freedom, otherwise the freedom is empty. You need either to create something or to discover something. Either bring your potential to actuality or go inwards to find yourself, but do something with your freedom.
Freedom is only an opportunity for you. It is not in itself the goal. It simply gives you the whole opportunity to do whatever you want to do. Now you are free and you are feeling sad, because you have not used this opportunity yet. Meditation will do, music will do, sculpture will do, dancing will do, love will do. But do something with your freedom. Just don’t sit with your freedom, otherwise you will become sad.
Freedom has to be a creative force in your life, not just a negative kind of freedom. The first part is negative: it is simply getting rid of the prison, it is getting rid of the chains. That you have done: now you are standing underneath the sky, completely lost.
Perhaps you have never realized that the imprisoned person has a certain reason for remaining imprisoned. That’s why millions of people in the world remain prisoners of religion, of caste, creed, nation, color. All kinds of prisons they go on tolerating — not without reason. Their reason is that when they are imprisoned they don’t have any responsibility, they don’t have to be creators, they don’t have to find some positivity in their freedom. It is enough for them to remain imprisoned, because then others will go on taking care.
Why are people Christians, why are people Hindus, why are people Mohammedans? Because Jesus will take care. You need not be worried. All that you have to be is just a slave of the Christian church. And the Christian church will take care of all your sins and of all that is needed. One feels absolutely unburdened with responsibility — no responsibility.
But remember one thing, fundamental to the whole question of freedom: responsibility and freedom are together. If you don’t want to have responsibility, you can’t have freedom either. They both come together or they both go together. If you leave responsibility, you have to accept slavery in some way or other.

From:
Sutra Spoken By The Sixth Patriarch On The High Seat Of The Treasure Of The Law
(Aka: The Platform Sutra)
———————
…
Thus, to the knowledge of no one, the dharma was transmitted to me at midnight, and consequently I became the inheritor of the teaching of the Sudden school as well as of the robe and the begging bowl.
“You are now the sixth patriarch,” said he «Hung-jen, the fifth patriarch –c.o.», “Take good care of yourself, and deliver as many sentient beings as possible. Spread and preserve the teaching, and don’t let it come to an end. Take note of my stanza:
Sentient beings who sow seeds of enlightenment
In the field of causation will reap the fruit of buddhahood.
Inanimate objects void of buddha-nature
Sow not and reap not.
He further said, “When the patriarch Bodhidharma first came to China, most Chinese had no confidence in him, and so this robe was handed down as a testimony from one patriarch to another. As to the dharma, this is transmitted from heart to heart, and the recipient must realize it by his own efforts. From time immemorial it has been the practice for one buddha to pass to his successor the quintessence of the dharma, and for one patriarch to transmit to another the esoteric teaching from heart to heart. As the robe may give cause for dispute, you are the last one to inherit it. Should you hand it down to your successor, your life would be in imminent danger. Now leave this place as quickly as you can, lest some one should do you harm.”
…
After saying good-bye, I left him and walked toward the south. In about two months’ time, I reached Ta-Yü Mountain. There I noticed that several hundred men were in pursuit of me with the intention of robbing me of my robe and begging bowl.
Among them there was a monk named Hui-ming, whose lay surname was Ch’en. He was a general of the fourth-rank in lay life. His manner was rough and his temper hot. Of all the pursuers, he was the most vigilant in search of me. When he was about to overtake me, I threw the robe and the begging bowl on a rock, saying, “This robe is nothing but a symbol. What is the use of taking it away by force?” [I then hid myself.]
When he got to the rock, he tried to pick them up, but found he could not. Then he shouted out, “Lay brother, lay brother [for the patriarch had not yet formally joined the Order], I come for the dharma, not for the robe.”
Whereupon I came out from my hiding place and squatted on the rock. He made obeisance and said, “Lay brother, preach to me please.”
“Since the object of your coming is the dharma,” said I, “refrain from thinking of anything and keep your mind blank. I will then teach you.” When he had done this for a considerable time. I said, “When you are thinking of neither good nor evil, what is at that particular moment, venerable sir, your real nature [literally, original face]?”
As soon as he heard this he at once became enlightened. But he further asked, “Apart from those esoteric sayings and esoteric ideas handed down by the patriarchs from generation to generation, are there any other esoteric sayings?”
“What I can tell you is not esoteric,” I replied. “If you turn your light inwardly, you will find what is esoteric within you.”
“In spite of my staying in Huang-mei,” said he, “I did not realize my self-nature. Now thanks to your guidance, I know it as a water drinker knows how hot or cold the water is. Lay brother, you are now my teacher.”
I replied ” if that is so, then you and I are fellow disciples of the fifth patriarch. Take good care of yourself.”

i hear the 7th Master had known for some time that the uninspiring acolyte coveted his robebut thought he was concealing it
Out of the desperation born of lack of talent the acolyte began to plot,
One night he made up his mind
On the way, in the rain, knowing they are alone they meet
Looking in the eye he disrobes dropping the robe in the puddle, he walks away
The 8th kneels and weeps, the office is passed
I may have the enumeration wrong, these things all run together in my mind…
want to know why i like the one hand clapping koan?

My Learning Prior to SOIS at UWM:
My concentration has been on political science and studies of cultures.
There have been many opportunities for me to integrate my focus on the needs of citizens, whilst pursuing my SOIS studies.
Within SOIS I have focused a few graduate courses on library science, so one could easily say I have concentrated on the citizen need for information resources and how it can best be filled with our current capabilities. I have focused much study on the optimal future development of information resources for public use into the future.
There are several competencies that it has served me well to study; many of the most useful come from the second half of my academic career, when I’ve studied IR at UWM SOIS. The foundation upon which that course of study was laid was half a lifetime’s self directed study on the historical issues of the people in politics, and the possibilities that our technical development can and does open up for a more human future. The core of this study is the first half of my academic career; I particularly was left an impression on by a handful of these classes. Although the mists of time deprive me of much detail, I will start with the classes from my classic liberal arts / humanities phase.
First chapter highlights start with Ancient Cities of the Americas, Anthro 22. Although I can’t remember the professor’s name, he was a giant in his field and had been in charge of the digs at Teotehuacan and Cahokia, each for extended critical periods of time. He taught no more soon after that (1985), and was so old he was difficult to hear, but he put me on to a very important concept that is still having a hard time being accepted as the new paradigm. He told me, in trying to make sense of some details, or another, that there was much circumstantial evidence for many ancient American cities that tells a similar tale.
These city states all developed very complex hierarchies. These tended to grow over time, and eventually become too large and top heavy to be supported by those below. At this point they would eat up all their reserves, and hinterlands. Then when nothing could keep it working, the culture would collapse completely. As there would be no food anywhere nearby, the entire culture of that place would disappear, and the survivors would simply found a new, more egalitarian way of life somewhere else. He was quite convincing with this case using Cahokia, where he was the prominent expert in the field, and the evidence is quite strong now that this was the case. The Teotehuacan hierarchy may have survived somewhat transmuted as the Aztec, or some other aristocracy, its case is not so cut and dried. He hinted that the Maya may also prove to be a similar case, and since he has left us, the case has become pretty solid that the Maya just threw the culture away but are still using many of the same walled orchards, built long ago, today.
This gives me much hope, for I saw us as more like the Cahokian model, but without the ability to escape back to the hinterland and the wilderness. Our culture is so profoundly large, and impacts this planet so universally, that this class helped me see another way that we are meeting a grave new challenge never seen before. Next social collapse, there will be nowhere to leave to. This paradigm also pointed out the degree to which our culture has a built in addiction to frontiers, and that the frontier of human endeavor had transformed historically with the close the physical frontier of earth’s lands.
This lesson was bolstered by my simultaneously taking Anthro 101, and was thrown in sharp contrast by Intro to International Relations (the other IR), Poli Sci 175. A professor whose name I prefer to forget thought that the concept of hegemony was deep, and important, and the greatest thing since sliced bread. I may have been more inclined to agree with him were his intent to teaching hegemony less akin to Kissinger’s intent in practicing it. This semester is when I discovered my true enemy was hierarchal socio-political power, not the hierarchy itself, but the concept of its legitimacy.
So that was my first semester at UWM, formative. Then I went to Madison.
There were four courses that had a great impact on me individually, and one semester when three courses combined to cover the three sides of the golden triangle. These all were part of my focus on the political history of the peoples of our world.
The two most important of these seven were focused on biology and the history of science.
The first of the four was Poli Sci 209, Issues in Political Thought. The issue for the semester was the history of words used to identify political ideologies. In this class I came to understand that disparate modern ideologies had all started as something that I believed in strongly, but that over time the vagaries of political power had twisted the discourse until it was impossible to use these words to have meaningful discussion of the concepts that they represent. This is because they each have so many different meanings to different people. It helped me understand how skewed modern American political discourse is, and why it is so difficult to discuss politics meaningfully in the US. This formed the basis of my ability to define my very simple anarkic beliefs, regardless of my audiences’ understanding of ideological terms.
The theme of Chinese, and Asian religious cultures, that also spanned these years, contributed much to my ability to discuss my spiritual beliefs, which were emerging from my atheism at the same time.
The other Poli Sci course that had great impact was Poli Sci 654, Politics of Revolution. I’d always wanted to see myself as a revolutionary, this course helped me sort thru what is wrong and what is right with the revolutions that have occurred so far. One of the best parts of it was that we looked closely at what causes revolution; what factors were always present, and which, not being present, prevent effective change regardless of the need. The perception of the possibility of positive change appears to be the most important predisposition towards people changing their world. This concept has had a profound impact on me and it has grown stronger and more refined over time.
Two science courses had a profound impact on me in ways that go beyond science to political and spiritual understandings that have remained important to me. The prior semester had laid some foundations for this. Three classes covered different sides of the infamous golden triangle at the same time; this really helped me achieve a good overview of modern western history. Poli Sci 260, Intro to Latin America, and Afroamer 277 Intro to Africa really helped me understand how eurocentric culture has in fact created underdevelopment, and that it is sustained by the state department and other institutions that have inherited the mantle of the wealth and power of the eurocentric economic worldview. The other class I had that semester is hard to describe, for it was an interdisciplinary look at the evolution of western culture, science, technology, and philosophy. Integrated Liberal Studies 202 II was full of expansive ideas and charted the interrelation of what we see as different fields of study, and how they have become fragmented over time. All three of these classes spent the same two weeks on the period of the golden triangle. At the end of this time I realized that I had acquired a quite a broad and comprehensive view of western history, from within it’s philosophical core, and in it’s context of other cultures.
The take home lesson for this semester: when an ancient Greek used the word teknos, he was discussing not only how, and with what, but also why. We have divorced our reason from itself; we do not ask why we design science, technology, and philosophy. They have all become ancillaries to earning money, which motive is unquestioned. That this is the essential goal of our culture (earning more money for/by those who already have much of it), and our biggest barrier to good politics, science, and technology, was beginning to become apparent to me, but it was the history of science that straightened me out for good. I clearly remember History of Science 101, but my transfer transcripts contain no reference to it. It was near the end of this class, which was a broad overview of the rise of modern science over the last few centuries, that I realized that a good portion of the technical difficulties we are having with survival on earth has come from a changing of the priorities and motives for science, research, and technical development over the years.
What originally was a grand enterprise to improve the human condition and grow closer to God by understanding his world better has become mainly harnessed to the capitalist profit motive. There are many small reasons for this, and collectively they are quite substantial. This changed my core understanding, until then I saw all political problems as essentially being solvable by technical solutions.
Now I see that all technical problems require political solutions.
Information Resources at SOIS UWM, and My Four Core Competencies:
This brings me to the second half of my course work, a focus on the teknos of solutions to political problems. Entering the SOIS, I had the advantage of seeing technology not as object, but as process implying a purpose. I also had the advantage of knowing the power of information and knowledge to transform our world, as well as knowing the importance information access for everyone has to the world. Though I could only see at the time that I would rather study information use generally than any given field, I have found in IR studies the answers the first half of my studies had sent me looking for.
I felt simultaneously well updated and at home in my first semester back at UWM, in the IR program at SOIS. In L&I SCI 632 and L&I SCI 110 there was much discussion about the ethics of information use. We covered the need for intellectual property security, and the digital divide. These discussions helped bring my focus on socio-political issue back into focus. Class discussion in these classes did more to help me comprehend the current state of these issues more than any other materials could have. These two classes rounded out the competency I brought back to school with me. This is a basic, broad humanities background with a view of the context of our past, but a focus on current and future needs. I have rounded out this competency with the addition of PEACE ST 201, Intro to Conflict Resolution, we studied conflict and it’s resolution. There was a real relevance here in that the digital divide and the information economy were important topics of the class. William Ury’s “Getting to Peace” was an excellent text that put a larger context to our cultural development. His essential argument was that we have returned to the expandable economic pie of our ancestors who were hunter-gatherers as a result of the knowledge economy. He places blame for violence among humans largely on the limited economic resources of the agricultural revolution. Like a hunter gather economy, but more so, the resources that matter in the knowledge revolution expand when shared, instead of shrinking like land and water do when shared. Ury is famous for his work as a corporate consultant and mediator. This socio-economic competence is formative and central to me. There are three other competencies that I value very much, it is easier to discuss them while discussing the second half of my course work, which is mostly in IR. In a word each: research, project management, and web implementation. My preexisting artistic bent has enjoyed flourishing particularly in web implementation and design.
The core competency that I value having expanded in SOIS, is the ability to do research. In L&I Sci. 210, Foundations of University Library Research, I learned how to research and document a good college paper. I had acquired a pretty good sense for how to write a paper, but this course covers material every student should know about how to use reference materials better to do research and to document it.
In L&I SCI 330, Electronic Info Retrieval, and L&I SCI 510, Intro to Reference Services and Resources, my ability to do research was expanded and solidified. The ability to find the information one needs is the most important skill today in my opinion. In all three of these course’s, databases, the Internet, and practice, were far more powerful than any books that could have been assigned. The familiarity I gained with the use of a reference library is invaluable to me, and was given uncommon depth, for a baccalaureate, by the addition of L&I SCI 681, Using Archives: The Value of Primary Sources in the Information Age. This course is about managing and organizing archives. One of its focuses was about basic marketing issues, this helped complete the course of thought began with L&I SCI 640, Information Marketing. This class was primarily about marketing information; the focus was on marketing free library resources to the public in an information economy. As this course was one of my first IR courses, it set a course of questioning that I followed throughout these following courses, comprising what I call the engineering, or development, competency.
One of the few courses that had books that I thought were instrumental to me was, L&I SCI 310, Human Factors of Info Seeking and Use. This course was essentially a study of usability. As someone who has an interest in universal info access, it was very instructive to study the methods of measuring and ameliorating usability problems. There were two books in this class that left an impression on me. The first was “Don’t Make Me Think”, almost a new type of book, being easy to skim and navigate; it was the best example I’ve ever seen for Steve Krug’s points about web design in book form. Donald Norman’s “Things that Make Us Smart” was all about how the focus of the information technology should be on conforming it to human needs, as opposed to the recent historical trend of adapting human behavior to the machines. To function, the knowledge economy technology needs to make us smarter. Tools that are not easily handled by the human mind don’t makes us smart as effectively.
To further bolster this engineering, or product development, focus, it was instructive to have three other courses in addition. L&I SCI 250, Internet Planning & Implementation, taught me how to build an enterprise scale intranet, and introduced the concept of project management, and working in groups. PM techniques were expanded upon and given depth and context in L&I SCI 340, Information Architecture II. Here we learned about basic PM tools and techniques. This was a good course for understanding information projects in the context of a modern corporate culture that is aware of the need for good project management. In L&I SCI 490, Senior Capstone, we put PM methods and tools into use in a group project of design and implementation of a scripted website.
The capstone class also capped off experience and formal study in the remaining competency, interactive web design and implementation. This is the competency that I most enjoy exercising and learning, because it satisfies my creative and artistic self. In L&S 110, we were introduced to HTML markup. I was delighted to design my first web page in this class, and this carried over into L&I SCI 240, Information Architecture I, where we learned a lot about HTML and learned some JavaScript as well. We also learned about CSS and other kinds of templates. L&I SCI 440, Information Architecture III, expanded this scripting background; we designed ASP and PHP interactive web applications that worked with databases. There were several good texts covered in these courses, but the best sources were web based, like Webmonkey.com, and W3C pages.
Future Directions:
Designing web implementations gave me ideas that may bring all these competencies back together. I am working out some ideas I have for how web applications can be used to automate some of the work of group self governance. On the surface the concept is no more than a survey, but it is hyper survey. A web application could make it much easier, and more democratic, to share opinions and decisions. Just for beginners, we could rank the questions to order them by value, and share each other’s answers. Most important, the web environment will enable more ease of rewording of proposed questions and the posting new questions by participants. All in all, there is much room to improve communication, expression, and decisions, on political matters in the online environment. There are security issues that I find hard to solve simply, without the use of nominal Paypal payments, or some other such conceptually inappropriate use, but they are not intractable to a fair solution, and new solutions will arise organically.
A similar idea is to use cooperative effort to compile useful link lists to serve the peoples’ expanding need for coherence in the flood of data. A multi-axis system of categories and rankings could be combined with user inputs and valuations. This could enable the finding, and listing, of links in a number of different criteria simultaneously, with a ranking along a spectrum of each criterion. In this way one could search for just the right level of knowledge at the intersection of several interests. Some of these axes (political radicalism, or left-right spectrum, as opposed to the freedom-safety spectrum, or scientific radical-conservative spectrum) would be more subjective and geared towards values, trust, and taste. XML, which was the topic of my independent study, L&I SCI 399, is a markup that would make a good platform core for these types of applications.
My focus on universal empowerment through knowledge access has been brought much empowerment itself, in the form of these three other competencies. Research, product development, and web implementation, are well bundled here to perform the job I have assigned myself. It is my job to help all I can to ensure that these possibilities are used to help us all, for our boat is now to small for us to survive historic levels of collective individual selfishness. The new frontier is knowledge automation, but good results there are right next door to everyone, truly this is a new kind of new frontier. Clearly this frontier is in many ways the most open ever in terms of possibilities. I have confidence in our ability to build a sustainable knowledge economy, for the possibilities are limited only by our imagination. Yet I am concerned, for Politics of Revolution has taught me that we will not change our ways unless we perceive that we are able, and there is much in our socio-economic system that argues that we are helpless before it. We are not, however, helpless before it, it is we. Whether we know, or care, or not, every one of us changes and defines our culture, every day.
Currently I see my future in self employment as a webmaster while also working in the non-profit sector and/or knowledge industry. It is my dream to work with the national Green Party web team while working for Google. In both cases I would seek to work on ideas like the two cited above. Ultimately I would like to work in consulting and as a webmaster, while creating a game site out of the Science Fiction Utopian novel I’ve been working on. I would like to find a way to express my artistic urges in the meantime, so I am thinking about studies in computer imagery. In the meantime I intend to spend my summer learning Macromedia.

New Homegrown Documentaries Industry Makes Timely Agitprop
These films are following a new marketing paradigm for civically focused documentaries.
Eshewing the profits that go with major markets inclined to shut out content like this anyway, they aim for direct sales motivated by hosting free screenings.
As a marketing strategy this is more concerned with getting out the word than it is effective at turning a profit.
In one of the following clips (Preview of Interview with Robert Greenwald 2:44; of ‘High Price of Low Prices’), Robert Greenwald speaks to the appeal
that being invited to see it by co-workers, freinds, and family has for people who would not want to help fund the film.An exciting new documentary ‘the War Tapes’,made of footage by the troops on the ground, is playing this coming week,
fri oct 6th, thru thurs. 12th, at Times Cinema, at 5906 W Vliet St, Milwaukee, WI., at 7 & 9:00pm, with a 3pm matinee on sunday.
You can see the trailer at thewartapes.com/trailer, and look up screenings atthewartapes.com/screenings;
though it is not nearly as well developed, or populated, as the list for the following one, which is sure to propagate much better online.
Recently released, and aimed effectively at small showings by citizens, is Robert Greenwald’s ‘Iraq for Sale’, Trailers,
hook up with locals who will show it to you at iraqforsale.org/screenings.php.
Go meet new people, or, better yet, buy the DVD (‘Iraq for Sale’), and host a party (screenings.php), where you can meet freinds new and old.
Another similar documentary telling the soldiers’ tale now showing locally is The Ground Truth,
which is also not quite as booked online as Robert Greenwald funded Brave New films’ ‘Iraq for Sale’.
As I have yet to see any of these three, I cannot yet speak to whether the better movie was made by money, or vets, but my opinion is not one that matters.
The Ground Truth screenings can be found here, enter your zip code and radius, or see recent Milwaukee listings here.
There’s more! a film that combines the others’ themes, by focussing on the civilian contractor “vets” perspective.
‘Shadow Company’, the (2:50) Trailer for which is quite promising.
Also, “Soldiers Speak Out” (Trailer 4:51), which appears to have quite the online activist community behind them.
So, we have four videos from those who have fought there, and two on profiteering, one of which is both.
Five fine films due largely to the efforts of those who served.

TRANSLATION OF THE ORIGINAL SPANISH TRANSCRIPTION FROM THE
HEADQUARTERS OF THE UNITED NATIONS
Caracas, September 20, 2006
TPPE-m200906-
Hugo Chávez Frías
President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
Message to the UN and the people of the world.
President Chávez: Madame President, Excellencies, Heads of State,
Heads of Governments, and high ranking government representatives from
around the world. A very good day to you all.
First of all, with much respect, I would like to invite all of those,
who have not had a chance, to read this book that we have read: Noam
Chomsky, one of the most prestigious intellectuals of America and the
world. One of Chomsky’s most recent works: Hegemony or Survival?
America’s Quest for Global Dominance. An excellent piece to help us
understand what happened in the world during the 20th century, what is
going on now and the greatest threat looming over our planet: the
hegemonic pretension of US Imperialism that puts at risk the very
survival of the human species. We continue to warn about this danger
and call on the people of the US and the world to halt this threat
that is like the sword of Damocles.
I intended to read a chapter, but for the sake of time, I will leave
it as a recommendation. It’s a fast read. It’s really good Madame
President, surely you are familiar with it. It is published in
English, German, Russian, and Arabic (applause). Look, I think our
brothers and sisters of the United States should be the first citizens
to read this book because the threat is in their own house. The Devil
is in their home. The Devil, the Devil himself is in their home.
The Devil came here yesterday (laughter and applause). Yesterday the
Devil was here, in this very place. This table from where I speak
still smells like sulfur. Yesterday, ladies and gentlemen, in this
same hall the President of the United States, who I call “The Devil,”
came here talking as if he owned the world. It would take a
psychiatrist to analyze the US president’s speech from yesterday.
As the spokesperson for Imperialism he came to give us his recipes for
maintaining the current scheme of domination, exploitation and pillage
of the world’s people. It would make a good Alfred Hitchcock movie. I
could even suggest a title: “The Devil’s Recipe.” That is to say, US
Imperialism, and here Chomsky says it with profound and crystalline
clarity, is making desperate efforts to consolidate its hegemonic
system of domination. We cannot allow this to occur, we cannot permit
them to install a world dictatorship, to consolidate a world
dictatorship.
The speech of the tyrannical president of the world was full of
cynicism, full of hypocrisy. It is this imperial hypocrisy with which
he attempts to control everything. They want to impose upon us the
democratic model they devised, the false democracy of elites. And
moreover, a very original democratic model imposed with explosions,
bombings, invasions, and cannon shot. That’s some democracy! One would
have to review the thesis of Aristotle and of the first Greeks who
spoke of democracy to see what kind of model of democracy is imposed
by marines, invasions, aggressions and bombs.
The US president said the following yesterday in this same hall, I
quote: “everywhere you turn, you hear extremists who tell you that you
can escape your misery and regain your dignity through violence and
terror and martyrdom.” Wherever he looks he sees extremists. I am sure
he sees you, brother, with your skin color, and thinks you are an
extremist. With his color, the dignified President of Bolivia Evo
Morales, who was here yesterday, is an extremist. The imperialists see
extremists all around. No, its not that we are extremists. What is
happening is that the world is waking up and people everywhere are
rising up. I have the impression Mr. Imperialist dictator that you
will live the rest of your days as if in a nightmare, because no
matter where you look we will be rising up against US imperialism.
Yes, they call us extremists, we who demand complete freedom in the
world, equality among peoples and respect for national sovereignty. We
are rising up against the Empire, against the model of domination.
Later, the president said, “Today I’d like to speak directly to the
people across the broader Middle East: My country desires peace.” That
is certain. If we walk the streets of the Bronx, if we walk through
the streets of New York, Washington, San Diego, California, any city,
San Antonio, San Francisco and we ask the people on the street: the
people of the US want peace. The difference is that the government of
this country, of the US, does not want peace; it wants to impose its
model of exploitation and plundering and its hegemony upon us under
threat of war. That is the little difference.
The people want peace and, what is happening in Iraq? And what
happened in Lebanon and Palestine? And what has happened over the last
100 years in Latin America and the world and now the threats against
Venezuela, new threats against Iran? He spoke to the people of
Lebanon, “Many of you have seen your homes and communities caught in
crossfire.” What cynicism! What capacity to blatantly lie before the
world! The bombs in Beirut launched with milimetric precision are
“crossfire”? I think that the president is thinking of those western
movies where they shoot from the hip and someone ends up caught in the
middle.
Imperialist fire! Fascist fire! Murderous fire! Genocidal fire against
the innocent people of Palestine and Lebanon by the Empire and Israel.
That is the truth. Now they say that they are upset to see homes
destroyed.
In the end, the US president came to speak to the people, and also to
say, “I brought some documents Madame President.” This morning I was
watching some of the speeches while updating mine. He spoke to the
people of Afghanistan, to the people of Lebanon, to the people of
Iran. One has to wonder, when listening to the US president speak to
those people: what would those people say to him? If those people
could talk to him, what would they say? I think I have an idea because
I know the souls of the majority of those people, the people of the
South, the downtrodden peoples would say: Yankee imperialist go home!
That would be the shout that would echo around the world, if these
people of the world could speak with only one voice to the US Empire.
Therefore, Madame President, colleagues, and friends, last year we
came to this same hall, as we have for the past eight years, and we
said something that today is completely confirmed. I believe that
almost no one in this room would stand up to defend the system of the
United Nations. Lets admit with honesty, the UN system that emerged
after WWII has collapsed, shattered, it doesn’t work. Well, ok. To
come here and give speeches, and visit with one another once a year,
yes, it works for that. And to make long documents and reflect and
listen to good speeches like Evo’s yesterday, and Lula’s, yes, for
that it works. And many speeches, like the one we just heard by the
president of Sri Lanka and of the president of Chile. But we have
converted this Assembly into a mere deliberative organ with no kind of
power to impact in the slightest way the terrible reality the world is
experiencing. Therefore we again propose here today, September 20,
[2006] to re-found the United Nations. Last year Madame President, we
made four modest proposals that we feel are in urgent need of being
adopted by the Heads of State, Heads of Government, ambassadors and
representatives. And we discussed these proposals.
First: expansion. Yesterday Lula said the same, the Security Council,
its permanent as well as its non- permanent seats, must open up to new
members from developed, underdeveloped and Third World countries.
That’s the first priority.
Second: the application of effective methods of addressing and
resolving world conflicts. Transparent methods of debate and of making
decisions.
Third: the immediate suppression of the anti-democratic veto
mechanism, the veto power over Security Council decisions, seems
fundamental to us and is being called for by all. Here is a recent
example, the immoral veto by the US government that freely allowed
Israeli forces to destroy Lebanon, in front of us all, by blocking a
resolution in the UN Security Council.
Fourthly: as we always say, it is necessary to strengthen the role,
the powers of the general secretary of the United Nations. Yesterday
we heard the speech of the general secretary, who is nearing the end
of his term. He recalled that in these ten years the world has become
more complicated and that the serious problems of the world, the
hunger, poverty, violence, and violation of human rights have been
aggravated, this is a terrible consequence of the collapse of the UN
system and of US imperialist pretensions.
Madame President, recognizing our status as members, Venezuela decided
several years ago to wage this battle within the UN with our voice,
our modest reflections. We are an independent voice, representing
dignity and the search for peace, the formulation of an international
system to denounce persecution and hegemonic aggression against people
worldwide. In this way Venezuela has presented its name. The homeland
of Bolívar has presented its name as a candidate for a non-permanent
seat on the Security Council. Of course you all know that the US
government has begun an open attack, an immoral global attack in an
attempt to block Venezuela from being freely elected to occupy the
open seat on the Security Council. They are afraid of the truth. The
empire is afraid of the truth and of independent voices. They accuse
us of being extremists. They are the extremists.
I want to thank all countries that have announced your support for
Venezuela, even when the vote is secret and it is not necessary for
anyone to reveal their vote. But I think that the open aggression of
the US Empire has reinforced the support of many countries, which in
turn morally strengthened Venezuela, our people, our government.
Our brothers and sisters of MERCOSUR, for example, as a block, have
announced their support for Venezuela. We are now a full member of
MERCOSUR along with Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay. Many other
countries of Latin America, such as Bolivia and all the CARICOM
nations have pledged their support to Venezuela. The entire Arab
League has announced its support for Venezuela. I thank the Arab
world, our brothers of the Arab world and of the Caribbean. The
African Union, nearly all of the African Union countries have pledged
their support for Venezuela and other countries like Russia, China and
many others across the globe. I thank you all deeply in the name of
Venezuela, in the name of our people and in the name of truth, because
Venezuela, upon occupying a seat on the Security Council will not only
bring to it the voice of Venezuela, but also the voice of the Third
World, the voice of the peoples of the planet. There we will defend
dignity and truth.
Despite all this Madame President, I think there are reasons to be optimistic.
Hopelessly optimistic, as a poet would say, because beyond the
threats, bombs, wars, aggressions, preventative wars, and the
destruction of entire peoples, one can see that a new era is dawning.
Like Silvio Rodríguez sings, “the era is giving birth to a heart.”
Alternative tendencies, alternative thoughts, and youth with distinct
ideas are emerging. In barely a decade it has been demonstrated that
the End of History theory was totally false. The establishment of the
American Empire, the American peace, the establishment of the
capitalist, neoliberal model that generates misery and poverty all
totally false. The thesis is totally false and has been dumped. Now
the future of the world must be defined. There is a new dawning on
this planet that can be seen everywhere: in Latin America, Asia,
Africa, Europe, Oceania. I want to highlight that vision of optimism
to fortify our conscience and our will to fight to save the world and
construct a new world, a better world.
Venezuela has joined this struggle and for this we are threatened. The
US has already planned, financed and launched a coup in Venezuela. And
the US continues to support coup plotters in Venezuela. And they
continue supporting terrorism against Venezuela. President Michel
Bachellet recalled a few days ago pardon, I mean a few minutes ago
the terrible murder of the former Chilean Foreign Minster Orlando
Letelier. I would only add the following: the guilty parties are free.
Those responsible for that deed, in which a US citizen was also
killed, are North Americans of the CIA. Terrorists of the CIA.
In addition, we here in this room must remember that in a few days it
will be the 30th anniversary of that murder and of the horrible
terrorist attack that blew up a Cubana de Aviación airplane in
mid-flight killing 73 innocent people. And where is the worst
terrorist of this continent, who admitted to being the intellectual
author of the airplane sabotage? He was in prison in Venezuela for
some years, but he escaped with the complicity of CIA officials and
the Venezuelan government of that time. Now he is here living in the
US, protected by the government even though he was convicted and he
confessed. The US government has a double standard and protects
terrorism.
These reflections are to demonstrate that Venezuela is committed to
the fight against terrorism, against violence and works together with
all people who struggle for peace and for a just world.
I spoke of the Cuban airplane. Luis Posada Carriles is the name of
that terrorist. He is protected here just like the corrupt fugitives
who escaped Venezuela. A group of terrorists who planted bombs in
embassies of various countries, murdered innocent people during the
coup and kidnapped this humble servant. They were going to execute me,
but God reached out his hand, along with a group of good soldiers, and
the who people took to the streets. It’s a miracle that I’m here. The
leaders of that coup and those terrorist acts are here, protected by
the US government. I accuse the US government of protecting terrorism
and of giving a completely cynical speech.
Speaking of Cuba, we went happily to Havana. We were there several
days. During the G-15 Summit and the NAM Summit the dawning of a new
era was evident with an historic resolution and final document. Don’t
worry. I am not going to read it all. But here is a collection of
resolutions made in open discussion with transparency. With more than
50 Heads of State, Havana was the capital of the South for a week. We
have re-launched the Non-Aligned Movement. And if there is anything I
could ask of you all, my brothers and sisters, it is to please lend
your support to the strengthening of the NAM, which is so important to
the emergence of a new era, to preventing hegemony and imperialism.
Also, you all know that we have designated Fidel Castro as President
of the NAM for the next three years and we are sure that compañero
President Fidel Castro will fulfill the post with much efficiency.
Those who wanted Fidel to die, well, they remain frustrated because
Fidel is already back in his olive green uniform and is now not only
the President of Cuba but also the President of NAM.
Madam President, dear colleagues, presidents, a very strong movement
of the South emerged there in Havana. We are men and women of the
South. We are bearers of these documents, these ideas, opinions, and
reflections. I have already closed by folder and the book that I
brought with me. Don’t forget it. I really recommend it. With much
humility we try to contribute ideas for the salvation of the planet,
to save it from the threat of imperialism, and god willing soon. Early
in this century, god willing, so that we ourselves can see and
experience with our children and grandchildren a peaceful world, under
the fundamental principles of the UN, renewed and relocated. I believe
that the UN must be located in another country, in a city of the
South. We have proposed this from Venezuela. You all know that my
medical personnel had to stay locked up in the airplane. The Chief of
my security is locked on the plane. They would not let them come to
the UN. Another abuse and outrage Madame President that we request to
be registered personally to the sulfurous Devil. But God is with us.
A warm embrace and may God bless us all.
Good day.

Discurso de Chavez en Espanol
Señora Presidenta, Excelencias, Jefes de Estado, Jefes de Gobierno, y altos
representantes de los gobiernos del mundo. Muy buenos días a todos y a
todas.
Nosotros no
dirían: ¡Imperio Yankee go home!
fortalece mucho moralmente a Venezuela, a nuestro pueblo, a nuestro
Canciller chileno Orlando Letelier.
Naciones Unidas, relanzada y reubicada.
Otro abuso y atropello
i’ve excerpted this selection from a much longer post on issues caused by zionism and war.
because it is the one that most opened my eyes
the rest was posted at Infospheric Reviscerator Blogspace @ geanark.Blogspot.com.
Jewish march against Zionism 3:31
“the Jewish religion forbids the Jewish people from having a state, the Jewish people are exiled”
“it’s against the Jewish beliefs, and all the actions that emanate from Zionism,
the oppression of a people, the stealing the land, and even the oppression of the orthodox people …
that’s all against God, against the Torah, and they, they do this all in the name of the Torah and the name of Judaism.
So we want the world to know”
ideally we would hope that the United States government stop supporting Isreal,
they think they’re doing them a favor,
but basically zionism is the main cause of antisemetism in the world”
Anti-Zionist Jewish Protestors 3:22
“athieistic, nationalistic, movement; extremely opposed to the basic faith of Judaism”
an eloquent defense by a Zionist, “you morons, you deserve to die, and your children should piss on your bones”
Zionism versus Judaism Part 1 of 6 9:57
Zionism is not a religion. Zionism is secular nationalism for reformed jews.
Zionism versus Judaism Part 2 9:59
the covenant: to be holy people, emulate Allness, or be rejected by the land
Zionism versus Judaism Part 3 9:59
the oath “you shall not rebel against any nations, you shall not go back in mass to israel, you shall not try to end the exile”
Zionism versus Judaism Part 4 9:59
Zionists prevented the buying of hungarian jewish lives from hitler (whoa!).
Zionism versus Judaism Part 5 9:59
“Zionists terrorized the Jews.” “We are forbidden by God to have a state, we are forbidden to oppress a people.”
Zionism versus Judaism Part 6 9:59
“it is a problem with a movement that has nothing to do with God.” “we must pray to God
for the speedy and peaceful dismantling of this illegal state”…
“God is the one who accomplishes; the USSR also disappeared overnight”

Why Protesters Are Patriots
I assume it is the content many define as “covered” in the following:
I thought i had some pretty good pics this evening.
Most times it was everyone else.
too late, bad photographer; left to right now:
George Martin, with Peace Action, and our great and benevolent old guard apparatchik, is already going.
Winston Sephus Jr, is a good state Treasurer candidate, (like the rest he’s aware movement doesn’t photo well).
Bob Levis, working to replace Sensenbrenner, all the way off stage already.
Leon Todd, for Lt Governor, face ablur.
Rae Vogler, doing quite well against Kohl, but you can hardly tell from this pic.
Claude VanderVeen, running for the 7th State Senate seat, looks like he’s thinking, but he always does.
Ruthie, invaluable Co-Chair of… too many committees, is definately gonna be in motion.
Before i can snap another even Liz (yet another one of our army of overpaid professional cadre), will also be to moving too fast for my cheap camera to capture.
Thought i had some good ones of Rae, but this is the best result here, you can almost see the charm, charisma, and command of the issues that make her such a good candidate, but that stuff doesn’t even photo well even when she’s not all blurry.
ditto ..3, other side of mike stand, between them these two shots have a neat symetricality…
Aaahh, i have one of both George and Rae standing still, i like to get the behind the scenes, but this one says nothing.
all it says is hey, look at all the cool Cuban rum Rick brought, and salmon, behind Rae! and look how high the ceiling is.
It says it clearly however.
Ahh, Winston and Bob stand still for me…
no, wait, everyone’s actually moving still.
Here we have my favorite, a large swarm consisting of much of our statewide horde of operatives, standing, listening, i think they were even trying to help me get a good shot.
but that one there just can’t stop being such an activist, you should see George dance, man!
L2R again:
Claude VanderVeen thoughtful guy for 7th dist. State Senate.
George Martin, dances for Peace Action Wisconsin, United for Peace & Justice, coalition generally, and well, Peace.
Marc Sanson, Rae’s campaign manager, pondering his candidates words.
Ruth looking thoughtful too.
Gee, i guess they do stand still sometimes.
Must think, communicate, reach consensus, then act.
but moving much of the time, activists are active!
well, at least as active as i’m gonna get.
While the main thing we could learn from this is that a good photographer doesn’t go outside for a smoke during the climatic photo op,
but there’s the other lesson too:
For more proof that greens are too active to capture, we flashback to Radfest:
Here we have two candidates and myself.
On the left is Nelson Eisman, running for Governor, with David Cobb, our last presidential candidate, in the center.
Even though the three of us are holding each other up, we still can’t stand quite still.
So it is that David, the old hand, gave out some good candidate advice,
well, for the likes of me good anyway.
He said that a candidate should always make sure to occasionally hold a pose, or more importantly, just be still, so that everyone will get a good shot of that moment.
I somewhat caught Nelson reacting too actively to the concept itself,
while Dave practises…
Our hordes of fanactic secret cadre watch studiously, calculating, absorbing like blank slate sponges.
David does it some more, but wait, everyone is being still here.
Well as our dictatorial head muck a muck, and presidential loser…
well, when he speaks the cadre must slavishly listen.
but wait, whats this??
This young man is speaking quite activly, and is currently in motion
empatically pulling the trigger on those in the crowd…
i wish i could remember the young man’s name.
He was laying down the most powerful of raps at a police brutallity rally earlier in the summer.
and here’s George quite in motion.
hmmmm have we learned something here today boys and girls?
something about the sun, even overcast and in shade, being better at capturing the activist than lifeless indoor bulbs.
We had some fun tonight, Rae was charming in her new (to me) haircut, and i learned even better how not to photograph.
Earlier Leon, Bob, Chris, Chad, and myself were at the UWM student union for a green fair.
Then later Chad signed on as primary contact with GPUWM, and Chris Doering is aboard.
Now we need two more, of the 6 of us, to sign up by mon afternoon.
We also found out GPUWM has accumulated a 318$ budget!!
now maybe we should figure out how to spend it
agenda item number 1? anyone?

“There has also been widespread destruction of public infrastructure.”

“Since the start of the month, Israeli forces have killed nearly 50 Palestinians, the majority of them being innocent civilians. In May, the killing of more than 40 Palestinians by Israeli forces was scarcely reported in the US media. The recent artillery barrage on Gaza left many children under the age of ten dead. The number of Palestinian children killed in the last three weeks by Israeli forces is equal to the number of Israeli children killed by Palestinian groups over the past two years.”

Israel still holds nearly 10,000 abducted Palestinians, including many members of the Palestinian government. Ali Abuminah, co-founder of ElectronicIntifada.net, Israel explicitly introduced the tactic of hostage taking for the purpose of prisoners exchangesin the early 90s. Today, Israel holds many Lebanese prisoners and occupies the Shebaa Farms. When did Israel every respect the sovereignty of any of its neighbors. Israel occupies southwest Syria. There are 30,000 Israeli settlers living in southwest Syria cultivating wine and enjoying the Golan Heights and claiming God gave it to them. Israel is establishing new settlements everyday throughout the Occupied Territories. Israel has been violating the airspace and territorial waters of Lebanon continuously and consistently ever since it was forced to withdraw its forces and its collaborator army, the South Lebanon army, in May 2000.
i wanted to recap the idylic last 2 months when i got home.
now much of that is obliterated by war.
we built a chicken coop and planted some veggies,
every morn Jackie would go out and get the eggs,
Jackie’s car crapped out, and she bought a white Toyota
watering and feeding the chickens, and watering the plants.
whenever we had to drive somewhere
(almost every day, one way or another)
it was likely to blow the whole day.
i did get to help three turtles cross the road, however.
the first one was a really large painted turtle,
maybe half my age, or more.
i heard a gurgling sound as i turned him over to see his belly,
they are so brightly painted, and i wanted to be sure that was what he was.
we all laughed as he sprayed me really well out of the same leg-hole
that was pointed towards my face as i turned him.
he missed my face, but my shirt and arm got wet.
i washed at a gas station, and Jackie had to buy me
a new t-shirt so i could enter the restaurant we were going to.
the second turtle was the only snapper i’ve ever touched
though he was hardly bigger than my hand, it was really scary
his long neck would have nabbed me if i held him much longer.
the third was a small painted, much more what i’m used to.
we also saw a homing pigeon that had been attacked by the side
of the road, and took him home.
while trying to find the right contacts online, we found out her son Rob
knew of a guy nearby, right across the road from where he was moving in,
who kept them. it was within a mile down the same road we found it along
we drove over, and, sure enough, it was his.
we also saw many deer, and took a few scenic drives.
we went to the Midwest Renewable Energy Fair and had some fun
well, that’s the short vers.,
soon i will post more info about occupation and bombing than you could want.
I CONSIDER MYSELF A CONSENSUS,
OF SEVERAL LEVELS OF EVOLUTION AND BRAIN STRUCTURE
the bi-cameral/hemispheric minds
THE EGO IS A SENSORY INTERFACE ILLUSION,
IT IS SO NOT REALLY THERE
there is never really an i,
it is always really we
we keep it in the back of our “subconscious” those things we have chosen to forget
no one is really ever alone in there, anywhere, anytime
and all states are available to the mind of that self,
that are availble to any component
occurs now to me this could be taken as little more
than an endorsement of sympathetic magic.
’tisn’t, i actually don’t trust sympathetic, as a methodology,
but it’s all we really had on neandertals, who were denser,
stronger, far more accurate throwers
well, maybe that and atalatls, for that’s the way ’tis
and maybe better voicebox, all this leads to wider synergys.
which is more like what i mean
while old ways are truely superceded, they are never superfluous.
to be whole we must create the consensus reality we want to live in
the power of dream, for example is well demonstrated as a necessity
in the historic annals of many sciences.
the structure of benzene first appeared to us as a dream, for example,
of a snake eating it’s tail, a small ourobos, spinning,
reminding of the point – the circle
i believe that our evolution, and survival, depend on finding the common ground, and a reconciliation,
of cultural norms and systems of understanding.
from prehistoric roots of language, ancient, and historic culture, and post-modern science,
must emerge a common understanding.
we are beginning to understand the brain’s complexity, how mind emerges from that, our history,
our evolution, and our universe on many new levels.
this century will bring ways to sift and winnow our understandings beyond current imagination
and ecological problems, created by social problems beyond our understanding.
We have the information to solve our problems, and the imagination to enact solutions,
but we lack an agreement on what the problems are, and what solutions are desirable.
we must forge a consensus on the meaning of life, as quickly as we learn the details of life.
we have the tools to understand things that have escaped us due to their complexity,
things like our minds, and the chemistry of collected living bodies.
i expect us to find wisdom in old ways that have been seeming lost,
and knowledge of what it is to be human, and how.
this must crystallize into a more rapidly evolving, more effective, more widely shared
consensus on how to be human, and how to be earthlings.
a more universal, more adaptable, system for encoding our information into understanding, and actions
will grow alongside the technologies that will provide a much more complete encoding of our world
into information.
to get on down our path, we must know, and be, more godly, more human, and more earthly.
more deeply material, less shallowly materialistic
science, religion, and magic will each find the value of the other
they will be reconciled, indeed, we must become more human, we must know ourselves and our past;
we must return to the root, to bring water and nutrient to the branches
we will then each be our own branch of learning, creating the understanding to foster the growth of all.
my evolving spirit-view’s basis is Love,
understanding, propagating, expanding, explaining, Love.
it is the greatest mystery,
understanding of which brings greatest Being,
and makes the greatest beings
(i used to think it was Truth, when i was younger and dumber)
we have studied hate far past it’s usefulness, surely we can agree on that?
in sooth i revere, above all else, Earth, and Love.
Gravity is the Allness’s Love.
Earth is our place to beautify the Allness,
for us all to co-evolve allness in.
Truth and Grace define Beauty.
Beauty, Love, Truth, Earth and the Allness, are plenty of Reason for every being Being
We all share one soul, it is why we are here,
to be here
to being the All into being, to create, expand, evolve Her
soul, psychic energy, magical power, inspiration, meaning, is somehow conserved
as is mass and energy, to which conservation this is somehow enjoined
if only by our lack of knowing why.
the best theoretical physicists now speak of conservation of information,
an emergent property of data, which itself is a property emerging from positions of mass/energy,
as it emerges from spacetime.
all properties of existance seem to arise as an emergent property of spacetime’s very existing.
each new level of complexity emerging into ever more levels of complexity
are meaning, thinking, and Soul that much different?
i believe all past lives are part of all present ones.
thought, divination, and meaning itself are some of the many manifestations of this conservation
and these two are intimately linked, by the flowing of their parts between them,
the melding of one into the other.
it is not the dominance of one part or another,
but the dance of moving energies or vibrations back and forth between the parts,
that make for the purpose, the pleasure, the very existence, of individuals, and of the whole.
This is the spiritual reason why sexual union is, to me, one of the most magical of acts,
universally, and, in particular, to me.
our different understandings of the universe somehow work upon similar principles,
conserving truth and meaning, whether encoded in the stars, or our DNA,
to be read from the molecular structures, or from the cast of die,
if any one, or some, can just divine the form, the code, the key to meaning
and these concepts are some of the traditional basis of magic, and some of science
both of which can be religions, personal paths of spirit,
or illusions whisked away in the winds of time.
Some aspects of reason are provable, some unproven, some stubbornly unprovable; forever?
why we are here?
to be here
?
why do we love?
to love
?
why not?
these two are most intimately related
as the sun, the fire, the food, the luck in the hunt, the thought, the progeny, the word,
the power, lovers entwined, and lines of descent entangled.
science can only prove so much, the spiritual proof is that which is not to be replicated,
but can only be experienced by one; leading not to theories, but to beliefs.
since i always look for outside confirmation, deeply influenced by my first religion, science,
lovemaking becomes where i am most likely to find what appears to be a confirmation of
another’s reality and understanding, and my emergent ‘beliefs’.
two meaning systems, two views, two minds
in contrast, conflict, and in concert,
exchanging energies, loves, and world views, on the most intimate of levels.
We can never really know the mind, or the reality, of any other.
but when you are feeling you feel what another feels
you short circuit the mental systems that deny certainty.
we all feel the same feelings in very much the same way;
all humans use the same chemistry, and similar structures, to experience feelings.
indeed, we share much of this experience and equipment with all mammals,
and much of that is shared with reptiles, less fish, even less other animals.
still, hunger, smell, sex, decision making, all animals share these modes of being,
and experience them through very similar mechanisms.
One may surmise that the experiencing itself must also be very similar.
when one looks in a dog’s eye, one feels that the dog has feelings,
yet one never really absolutely knows the mind of their own twin
opening one’s mind to experiencing the magical flow of energy embodied in lovemaking
brings one as close to certitude as possible in the belief that one shares thoughts with another.
properly matched and understood, lovers may also experience the flow of energies
between entities, the dance of being at the elemental level.
however they conceive to understand this, there is to be found a proof of the underlying reality.
we are all connected, we are all one, we are bound to life, and empowered therein,
by Love, Meaning, Truth, Grace, and understandings
the smallest consensus is two, the most basic of consensus realities.
besides sheer coincidence itself (which is all magic, science, soul, or spirit really are),
as i touch it, in gaming, with dice (my first big hint), and synergy of meaning,
the other places i find meaning, like using the I-Ching, and sexual love,
are intimately entwined with my mind and my perception, indistinguishable from faith and illusion.
but some larger patterns, like astrology (for me), show the connectedness of meanings.
minds evolved to discern patterns, sometimes a coincidence is flagged instead.
hence the tendency of the less rigorous reasoning to find meaning everywhere.
while personal meanings may well be found everywhere, they are not shared with other entities.
discrimination is necessary to find meaning that may be shared, so lacking discrimination
is in contrast with healthy human skepticism, for we are social animals, unable to survive alone,
requiring some degree of consensus in our understandings.
however, some measure of belief, a failure of logic, but maybe not reason, is necessary to us all,
especially in the definition of purpose, direction, desire, joy, and fear.
some complex systems seem definitely to reside outside us
sustained by odd reasoning beyond our grasp as individuals
but with meanings and patterns to be derived from complex systems of meaning
painstakingly built by our fore bearers, and continuously added to
things like astrology, numerology, bibliomancy, tarot, runes, religions and other systems of magic.
many have been struck with the similarity much of modern science bears to these previous attempts.
which many also believe have been replaced by the sciences.
quantum dynamics, like astrology, is different than much of the rest, at least for me…
these seem to be confirmed by the passage of my time
to me these things, like other humans, seem more likely to be ‘real’
to be out there, proving themselves at a distance, not affected by how we see, or what we think.
i’m sure that’s how advocates of my most hated of such systems,
that i believe exist only in their own darkly twisted minds, see their explanation systems also.
i believe systems are less dark, and less hate-able,
when the view is flex-able, and amendable by further understandings.
i don’t feel fixed realities are ‘truth’,
they do not reflect the impetus towards evolving that i see in the Allness.
nor it’s need for Love, deep reverance, respect and Grace.
so, i’ve come to believe that truth actually is neither objective nor subjective,
with one soul, conserved by All, truth is found in a consensus reality,
always expandable by new kinds of being and meanings.
i feel this understanding emerges from our experiences,
it is incomplete, and tentative, but, like science, astrology, and divination,
it makes things more easily understood, or at least comprehended, and explained.
the Soul, Allnessing, Beauty, Truth, even earth, gravity, and mind,
each individual part, the whole, and life itself are all emergent properties of being –
things that stem from the fact of existence, whatever it’s ‘real’ form.
all these systems of finding deeper truths seem alien when first encountered,
but when time’s passing seems to confirm them, they seem to become more concrete,
until one can no longer imagine otherwise.
Quantum dynamics’ mathematics are some of the most beautifully twisted pieces of logic
that will ever be.
no less, or more, so than many others that seem to describe the nature of things well,
by allowing us to manipulate her on a deeper, higher, and or bigger, level than before;
to live more well, to evolve, to understand and find meaning.
as were the birthing of spiritual and magical logics before.
the best reasoning we have ever posited all depends on
“because it looks that way to us” which seems more powerful than “it looks that way to me”
but each system is composed of many small changes, each originally only state-able by one
the wisest wise men know, not only that they do not know it all,
but what it is we can never know, and what we may someday understand.
as we enter a century where the most important frontier will be understanding complexity,
especially how the mind emerges from the brain’s interaction with life,
we will find out more about what can and cannot be known, what meaning can and cannot be,
by learning more about what knowing is, and how we derive meaning.
presumably, the more we learn about learning, the better we will get at it.
but the big question (why?) will never change.
only the how will evolve, but now how is poised to at least show us why we ask why, and how we find answers and meanings.

into a better, expanding, more evolved consensus reality, produced by better understanding,
producing better understandings, accelerating earth’s evolving.
even the disintegration of professional capital ownership,
and other exploitation by misappropriation of our common inheritance,
under the crush of it’s own effects, can only free our minds to see
(unless we allow humanity to disintegrate with it), that everything has plenty reason to be.
all paths lead to the emergence of Allness
pleasure in growing is what gives life meaning
humans are the last ones who should ask what is the meaning of life,
for us it is too find meaning in life, asking why is questioning the meaning of meaning.
meaning emerges from existence, like existence, it is.
one may question the nature of existence, but not it’s existence
existence is, is-ing is what it does! i.e. is is! beings are, being is.
It sounds like nonsense, because it is the answer to a nonsense question, sense is sensible; it just is.
likewise, one may question one’s understanding of meaning
but whether life has meaning? meaning is defined by living!
emergence, evolution, mind, and meaning, are,
like existence, simply, miraculously, being!
each, like us each, an integral, inseparable part of the whole
the Allness knows the meaning, the purpose, the principles,
of each individual, as a part of giving meaning to the whole
it is the meaning, and it’s knowledge will hold all.
Allness knows all, but it really knows naught, it does all, it is all, it is more fundamental than knowledge.
we cannot be all the Allness, so we need neither understand, or be, more than we can.
nor may we,
but we can know that to question, to answer, to give ourselves the illusion of understanding meaning
is an important part of what is our reason to be.
Love, Grace, Truth, these are simply things that make life be, and for which it is worth being a life.
meaning derives from the universal quest, the evolution of meanings
existence exists to be, it’s not so complicated. life lives to live, evolution emerges to evolve.
in my lifetime, the precarity, or desperateness, of people
has grown, enormously, continuously, and alarmingly!
while the educated, information society, is ever more rewarded,
efficient, and luxurious, the vast majority are left out.
as of the late 1980′s, more than half of all people ever alive are living now.
that the vast majority of us are living on the edge of desperation,
or in deep desperation, as of mid first decade of the third millennium,
means we are faced with a world, where advancing technology has enabled anyone to live like royalty,
while enforcing a society where the majority, of all humans ever having lived,
are currently either starving to death, in grave danger of doing so, or worse.
yet this technologia could engender an economy that could support most of us
in a style, that, still, very few have ever experienced.
we collectively have graver and graver impacts on our environments’
capacity to sustain us.
as a result of our individual desperate behaviors, we endanger all,
especially those who are not economically, and/or informationally, well endowed.
we must endeavor to reduce the general level of desperation among the masses,
else, even the rich will not be sustained.
the economic and information resources must not only no longer be
used against the interests of individuals, be put at the uses of the masses.
all individuals must learn to act less desperate,
to spare what
they can spare, like info, pleasant labor, and love, without suffering for loss.
and none not well enough off to spare these things, for indeed,
not sharing these things is itself loss, one we all share
all should be given their share of what our forbearers have handed down to us all.
the artistry, and knowledge of our predecessors should be available to all to mix,
and remix, and re-envision.
this is the only way back to an expanding economy,
over the hump of earths population limits combined with increasing disparity.
the corporations are just the most powerful of such individual actors, not the best organized;
governments and other organizations are routinely,
like corporations, programmed to act desperately,
and to produce more desperation amongst others in so doing.
Wither goes our party on this path? How desperate are we?
better, more human, communication, information, education,
and knowledge management,
allow us to fully share the most powerful resources
we have ever had, information, and the knowledge to use it with wisdom.
humanity, and many other species, are badly losing the class war,
to the point of threatened, virtual, or real, extinction!
to our cultural toolage?
our technology has been used to create an Earth,
where most humans, who ever lived,
can only wish they had the luxuries of the tribal hunter gatherer life.
from most, the land, resources on and in it, tribal political power,
and even the control, use, and benefit, of their own labor and information,
have all essentially been removed.
for most, a hunter/gatherer life seems palatial for it is,
compared to squatting in a land”fill”;
more control, sustainability, nutrition, resource redundancy, other securities,
more luxuries, time, and space.
the limitations of neigboring tribes seem like a small cost, the dangers, even of
tribal war is a small price when compared
to working in a sweat shop to poison yourself and your land,
to work yourself to the bone to create a useless luxury product,
for wages that could never cover the cost of the useful thing,
the luxury good is a bad imitation of.
to poison the air? or to be?
a more desperate choice, even, than kill or be killed,
more stressful, less rewarding if successful, more lethal if not.
makes tribal warfare look like fun!
tell someone feeling that desperate to preserve our environment,
there is only one answer, it is simple a question.
how do I survive?
a question more of us should be ready for a good answer to.
even among those who fare better, many are so stressed out,
they spend many resources and much time, trying to get hurt with panache,
in desperate sporting extremes.
the threat of our own extinction becomes the most likely prospect
of our superior ability to adapt to, and master, threats?
i don’t think so…
what kind of human nature, or rationale, is that?
none at all!
once the people seize the festival/party leadership,
first the lobbyists, then the politicians,
then the lawyers, cops, and soldiers,
may all be replaced,
then we will automate management and ownership out of their jobs
(they’ll beat us to it, you know they will; then it’s just a change of ownership).
at which point it will be time to sit the engineers down,
retrain them to engineer for user usability and desires.
then sit the users down, retrain them for co-design of their own lives,

as the expansion of the envelope with chemical and social help

today it matters a little less who you are or where you are
this medium is not only more liberating, it is more egalitarian
while i’m keeping in mind that 2200$ was just established as the

we must, and will, soon include them,
and the instrument of doing so will transform all our lives
for the better,
as long as we retain control of our use of content, and connections.
the collective self reflection found upon blogs, emails, IMs, and spaces
is a neccesary prelude to effective collective action
whereas the dark solitude of the cave and hermit, and the pshycodelia,
connect us to the allness and our world,
they may alienate us more from each other, than not.
this reflection finds my minds reflections in the eyes of others
whilst this may not well bespeak of one’s social graces, in the ‘real’ world,
it does help excersize the same mental muscles
we need to split up into autonomous little self organized groups
and form our own global organization of human action
from the ground up
conciously, carefully, choosing our own clans
and forming up again, in a human culture, run for humanistic,
humane, human ends,
even long after it is no longer run by humans
i’d been very excited about writting as a youth,

and the lost culture of the Ojibwe,
in light from the remaiing Gypsy culture
and i segued into the following:
it’s a more than a damn shame what is lost, but the
old old ways are for a world that no longer exists,
and the new old ways are constantly adapted to the changes around
the important thing is the attitude,
the state of mind and habits of culture
the rythms of life that give connectedness must be given back to all our children
the increasing dehumanization of the dominant culture
has come to the point where we must end that trending upward now
if we do not work today to do this humans will have no tomorrow
the dance of life must be returned to the norm; the beauty, appreciation, and respect
for Allness must be returned to our peoples
organizing on a human scale is core to this
eurocentric culture has a need to just start over in this respect
real political organization has to be broken into groups that can agree on a
consensus
and then, through negotiation, reassembled into an agreement the world can consent to
to build a world the world can consent to every day, forever
this must be done, but it will only need to be done one more time!
for it must be done right this time
having a culture that can evolve,
as opposed to a culture of absolutes is critical
our culture of constantly changing, ever more absolute truths make no sense
but there are confused ones today, who take each new truth as a long standing absolute foundation of right and wrong
change is good, but the foundations are not handed down on high
they are plain for all to see
the current turmoil within, and among religions,
seems based in that fact
any organized hierarchy of humans, in this age of information,
must confine itself to ends it may achieve
increasingly, this only means making money, not sense
only all of us can answer the big questions for all of us
the fragile brittle world of absolutes can’t stand much longer
the scared minds seeking leadership to explain away all the contradictions of thier worlds
will someday soon have to see that world blow away
when you can really see it, it’s amazing how much living in a mind of absolutes,
not only enables, but requires living in a body of hypocrisy
native, aboriginal, boreal, indeed tribal peoples of all nations,
and those without nations, and nations without self determination
all must collect together with the disenfranchised into a majority
this may seem like it will never happen, but it is happened, and it will be continued
to do this we all together must work out what it is we see,
what we want, and what the hell we
are going to do about it.
our entire set of paradigm sets must be recast,
independant of industrial capital’s control
and the only ones who can do it are ourselves
alliances between the disenfranchised, the nationless,
and the stateless nations and tribes
are increasingly strengthened from within
the tribal mind shares, the tribal mind cares, the tribal mind makes alliance
the actions of sustainable future for humanity belong to the tribal.
the comfort of unity with the diverse set of the All, proceeding therein
is in stark contrast, an improvement, on the austere, aloof, useless
monochromality of Judeo-christian-islamisms
the focus on death and what’s after it,
based solely on the fetishization of one heros death,
to procrastinate on joy untill you die
but joy requires a beautiful, healthy, diverse environment,
even inthe abstract or virtual world
so the tribal governments lend more help to the alliance,
and day by day, blog by blog, life by life, clan by clan
a sane world is being built.

or why guys are quiet in bed (482481 hits)

I was once having a conversation with Jesus and our girlfriends and Razor’s house, and an interesting subject came up. (And yes, I purposely included the name of an uberuser guru in a pale attempt to gain popularity) Anyway, someone asked, “Why are guys so quiet in bed.” And while this is by no means true for all guys, here is my answer.
Guys are quiet in bed because we are too busy thinking. You heard me right. Thinking. Deep thoughts. You see, it seems to generally the guy’s job, (at least in my experience) to make the girl feel as good as possible and have sweet, sweet orgasms. The girl, on the other hand, is generally content to just lay back and see what I’ve got to offer. Again, I can’t speak for anyone else, this is just in my personal experience.
Not only am I thinking during sex, I am multi-tasking. My neuro-net processor of a brain is pounding algorithms as fast as my penis is pounding pussy.
Just what is going through my head during sex? Like the moon, this is a frontier so far journeyed only by man. But here is a small window of what goes on in my head during sex:
“Alright, time for some action”
“I hope I don’t fuck up this time”
“Is that the right hole?”
“Oh wait, there it is”
“All right, lets start out slow”
It isn’t long before my thoughts turn into a quiet panic.
BRAIN: “Damn, she just moved.”
BRAIN: “Did I do something right, or did I hurt her”
BRAIN: “She’s making noises!”

article in origional context here
so, we see that much of male pattern insanity is simply men driving
it’s not always men driving, but maleness is all about attempting control,
ultimately, this process is mirrored in just about anything a man does
once he has taken an interest
from the first date, to the home, to the fight that could end it,
his eagerness, impatience, agressivness, desire, and control are tested
and the script of this knowledge is hard to shake
if you don’t know it, or try to ignore it,
women will teach you, and you will try to learn
so it is impossible to ignore, without becoming hopeless
wise, lucky, old men, they get it, or else they arrange it so they don’t care,
but it’s simple
we are tested, even guppies want both sides of the coin
every stroke contains the question, can you get carried away?/can you control it?
women don’t want to torture us
but evolution puts them in a place where they must need mutually exclusive traits
primal woman need primal man to lose control
only for her
needs control over overwhelming urge
at her command
and brains, and culture, and war have entrenched these needs
but when it’s just a game, or you feel like you’re winning, or all the needs are met
it is a fun ride,
esp. if you hit the trifecta and get all three, for a long happy life of love together
but don’t expect that any of that should happen to you
if you expect it, you won’t get,
if you don’t hope for it, you won’t get it
if you don’t work for it, you won’t get it
work to hard for it, you won’t get it
men want the same things, in much the same way
but if we can’t find it ourselves, we need to be culled
the male is simply more expendable, always,
that’s what maleness is
this is why straight men mostly secretly wish they were gay
and it is the reason that women feel the same
but it is the engine that has driven the rising complexity,
and powers, of human evolution
to the extreme of evolving the female orgasm
this additional feedback mechanism
creates a whole new level of complexity
along the lines of the same old themes
the question at this point is what do we do with all that
our tech begins to evolve itself
we must wind down the intensity of competition,
else find another venue for it than life
so:
men, swing the pendulum back from external control to internal control,
whichever way you dare to swing the pendulum, don’t swing it too far!
womyn, how about you try driving the beast more often?
whether or not you drive, accept it when you arrive where the driver thought you were going
both sexes must learn to better accept/expect failure more often
much more effective that trying to convince each other of our differing definitions of failure
more fun to share roles, swap sides
makes more whole people
Who do you know whose heart is not broken in some way?
Do you want to know someone with a whole heart?
We are our pain, every one of us.
Our scars and battle wounds are what make us more real…
more recognizable to each other.
When you join two pieces of clay together you have to score each side,
rough it up so that when you press them together they have something to hold onto,
places where they can fold together and can be sealed to make a strong join.
I believe that once broken, there is no going back to a whole heart.
The people and events that cause the breaking never leave us… not really.
I do not think that this is as sad or as melancholy as it may sound.
I prefer the wounded, deep, tried, healed over…
give me substance every time. I despise an unbroken heart.
It implies lack of depth, lack of life.. a grotesque apathy.
I have no end in sight for this monologue,
merely a few (2 or 3 hundred) thoughts on the matter…
It is after all, an unfinished topic with me.

Misogyny Corner: A response (780 hits)
Submitted by badassmofo
I don’t really agree with the ‘women are crazy’ mentality.
Personally I think the whole issue is a problem with communication.
You see I’ve spent 10 years now,
living with my wife and 5 of them married to her and we have,
from what I can tell, a very good relationship.
It didn’t come easy; it didn’t come without work and sacrifice on both of our behalves.
No in fact it came from the complete opposite end of the spectrum,
IT WAS HARD FUCKING WORK.
We spent years listening to what the other person was saying but not hearing it.
Fact is we were speaking two different languages.
She spoke Woman and I spoke Constant Hard On,
it was like someone speaking French to a Klingon, it just didn’t work.
In fact this lack of communication led to us breaking up somewhere
around the end of our second year together.
Eventually we got back together and having bared our souls,
you see when you are about to lose something that you’ve loved more than anything else in your life
you become disgustingly honest.
So we talked and we listened and began to form our own language.
Or maybe a better analogy is that we created an interpretation machine of sorts.
You see when she said “Man the lawn needs mowing”
I no longer heard
“You fucking lazy man, why don’t you get off your ass and mow the lawn,”
I just heard an observation.
Unless of course she said
“You fucking lazy man, why don’t you get off your ass and mow the lawn,”
because I never had a problem understanding that.
And when I said stuff like
“I’m going out to have some drinks with the boys after work tonight,”
she no longer heard
“I’m going to get stinking pissed and see what type of venereal disease I can get.”
You see its all about communication,
and to learn to communicate takes time,
it’s different with everyone because we all speak different languages.
If you’ve got it in your mind that there will be fireworks when your eyes meet,
that love at first site is the norm or that she’ll turn soft with your every advance
you are mistaken and will likely end up alone.
You see love at first sight, more times than not,
ends up being a load of bullshit in fairly short order.
Mainly because it is a farce,
you can’t love someone when you first meet them,
its impossible, stop watching movies.
You can’t truly love someone until you’ve smelled their shit
and you’re ok with it.
Love grows its not spontaneously created.
You can’t love someone or be loved by them until they’ve seen you at< your lowest,
or until you’re holding her hair while she pukes in the toilet.
Now the question comes ‘this seems like a lot of effort,
how will I know who is the right one?’
I don’t know what to tell you there, some folks luck out as I have
and it works out with the first one that they actually bare themselves to
and try to work it out.
But most folks,
most of them have to try repeatedly before they find the right one….
but it’s worth it.
Women aren’t any crazier than men are;
we’re equally crazy in our own way.
It’s a matter of finding the one whose bad habits,
bitching, crying, farting that you can stand.
All that said one of the most important things is that you are happy with yourself,
you’re likely to not be able to be happy with someone else.
You see if you are unhappy with you then again,
you are having a communication problem but it’s with yourself.
When you find a woman that you deem crazy,
keep in mind that she is no crazier than any other woman, or any other
man for that matter.
It’s that her craziness is not compatible with your craziness.
A Few Thoughts on the Coup in Honduras – Jeremy Scahill Junne 29, 2009 “Rebel Reports” –
There is a lot of great analysis circulating on the military coup against Manuel Zelaya in Honduras.
I do not see a need to re-invent the wheel. (See here here here and here). However, a few key things
jump out at me. First, we know that the coup was led by Gen. Romeo Vasquez, a graduate of the
US Army School of the Americas. As we know very well from history, these “graduates” maintain ties to
the US military as they climb the military career ladders in their respective countries.
That is a major reason why the US trains these individuals.
Secondly, the US has a fairly significant military presence in Honduras.
Joint Task Force-Bravo is located at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras.
The base is home to some 550 US military personnel and more than 650 US and Honduran civilians:
They work in six different areas including the Joint Staff, Air Force Forces (612th Air Base Squadron),
Army Forces, Joint Security Forces and the Medical Element. 1st Battalion, 228th Aviation Regiment,
a US Army South asset, is a tenant unit also based at Soto Cano.
The J-Staff provides command and control for JTF-B.
The New York Times reports that “The unit focuses on training Honduran military forces, counternarcotics
operations, search and rescue, and disaster relief missions throughout Central America.”
Significantly, according to GlobalSecurity, “Soto Cano is a Honduran military installation and home of the Honduran Air Force.”
This connection to the Air Force is particularly significant given this report in NarcoNews:
The head of the Air Force, Gen. Luis Javier Prince Suazo, studied in the School of the Americas in 1996.
The Air Force has been a central protagonist in the Honduran crisis.
When the military refused to distribute the ballot boxes for the opinion poll, the ballot boxes were stored
on an Air Force base until citizens accompanied by Zelaya rescued them.
Zelaya reports that after soldiers kidnapped him, they took him to an Air Force base,
where he was put on a plane and sent to Costa Rica.
It is impossible to imagine that the US was not aware that the coup was in the works.
In fact, this was basically confirmed by The New York Times in Monday’s paper:
As the crisis escalated, American officials began in the last few days to talk with Honduran government
and military officials in an effort to head off a possible coup. A senior administration official,
who briefed reporters on the condition of anonymity, said the military broke off those discussions on Sunday.
While the US has issued heavily-qualified statements critical of the coup
—in the aftermath of the events in Honduras—the US could have flexed its tremendous economic muscle
before the coup and told the military coup plotters to stand down.
The US ties to the Honduran military and political establishment run far too deep for all of this to have gone
down without at least tacit support or the turning of a blind eye by some US political or military official(s).
Here are some facts to consider: the US is the top trading partner for Honduras.
The coup plotters/supporters in the Honduran Congress are supporters of the “free trade agreements”
Washington has imposed on the region.
The coup leaders view their actions, in part, as a rejection of Hugo Chavez’s influence in Honduras and with
Zelaya and an embrace of the United States and Washington’s “vision” for the region. Obama and the
US military could likely have halted this coup with a simple series of phone calls.
For an interesting take on all of this, make sure to check out Nikolas Kozloff’s piece on Counterpunch, where he writes:
In November, Zelaya hailed Obama’s election in the U.S. as “a hope for the world,” but just two months
later tensions began to emerge. In an audacious letter sent personally to Obama, Zelaya accused the
U.S. of “interventionism” and called on the new administration in Washington to respect the principle
of non-interference in the political affairs of other nations.

i was already pensive, as my closest had suffered a maajor disaster
SassyPants, my new (MySpace) freind blogged this today,
and it resonated with my day emotionally
Here’s to each of us looking for what we don’t seem to have. I hope we find it. And soon.
….
my friend who wanted to be smothered was longing for closeness. The woman who was afraid of being smothered feared a closeness that is so very close to my friend’s desire. To be held and cherished, to feel it all around you. Those things make her nervous, where they just make me envious.”
(monte):somethings written by Be had been on my mind and in my heart’s eye,
among them:
“when i fell on my knees
i discovered legs
saw them rising, smoothly curving on their way up, far beyond my sight
never knew legs could fill the sky like that
when my eyes overflowed with tears
i finally knew about thirst
how the water, filling those oceans, slowly poured down my throat
amazing my tounge on its way
when my body fell stiff
i was hoping for you
your arms, strong n steady as im sure they would be, catching me
as i fall
from the sky
to the ocean
hoping
for you”
(monte):
i wish i had the strength to catch the whole world,
i’m still falling down myself
need what you don’t have?
people need each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this fit here, from Sassy also, last month:
still playin on the teeter-totter?
know there is a reason (and that it’s all ok by me)
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field.
I’ll meet you there.
